City Cash Takeaway was launched ten years ago by Mike Lewis as a fundraiser for the Bristol City Supporters Club.

The idea was to hold a 50/50 draw at every match, which ultimately helped the club and supporters who could win big prizes.

Winners are always encouraged to come out on the pitch and claim their money, the entire crowd then sees someone, somewhere in the ground, has claimed the big prize.

The competition has built up a big following during its run, with a £40,000 net season profit recorded twice. Over £250,000 in prizes have been given away and a similar sum has been handed over to the club.

Mike Lewis says: "I am very proud that such a simple thing has worked so well over so many years. I am always ready to listen to ideas and would love to stand aside in the next year or so - even if only to watch some football.

"I don't get to see any of the game apart from the last few minutes play in the first half."

Mike adds: "Like everything else, things need freshening up as people get fed up with the same old thing.

"We have some ideas for next season which have been discussed with various experts in the field and we feel we are also now ready for the Championship."
