YOUNGSTERS REACH FOR GOALS
Pupils from Portway Community School and Brislington Enterprise College will be cheering on City on Saturday, as part of their prize for winning the Reach For Your Goals tournament.
Organised by Bristol City Council, with the support of Bristol City Football Club, the tournament encourages pupils to improve their attendance at school.
Schools were invited to enter teams of six to the tournament, with matches taking place throughout the spring term. If any member of a team missed more than three days of school, for whatever reason, their team was disqualified.
Pupils from Monk Park and Bedminster Down, the teams with the best school attendance record, have also been invited to watch the game.
City's Football In The Community officer Tommy Hutchinson told bcfc.co.uk: "We are pleased to support this campaign to encourage young people to attend school. I hope they enjoy a great game against Norwich as a reward for their hard work."
Neil Eley, deputy head teacher at St Bernadette's School, who entered five teams to the competition, said: "We would like to thank Bristol City for working with the schools in this way. Attendance at our school is up by two per cent on the same period last year, so the campaign has definitely had a positive effect."
