City have been paired with League One side Peterborough United at home in the first round of the Carling Cup.

The fixture will be played at Ashton Gate Stadium in the week begining August 11th.

The Posh are managed by Darren Ferguson - son of Manchester United manager Sir Alex.

And last season they were promoted from League Two as runners-up to MK Dons.

City last played Peterborough on New Year's Day 2005 when Steve Brooker and Paul Heffernan scored in a 2-0 home league win.

The sides last met in the League Cup in 1979/80 when City won a third round replay 4-0 after a 1-1 draw in the initial tie.
