Bristol City fans' favourite Scott Murray will sign a new one-year contract next week. And the popular Scottish-born winger says he wants to stay at Ashton Gate for the remainder of his career. Murray's future was considered uncertain following City's defeat to Hull in last month's Championship play-off final at Wembley.

Bristol City winger Scott Murray has revealed he wants to stay at Ashton Gate for the rest of his career. The 34-year-old's future at the club was in doubt towards the end of last season when he found himself out of the first-team squad and soon to be out of contract. Gary Johnson offered Murray a new deal after Swindon and two unnamed clubs expressed an interest in signing him. Murray has now confirmed that he intends to put pen-to-paper on the agreement which would keep him at City until next summer. "I have talked to the manager, agreed terms and will definitely be staying with Bristol City," Murray said.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is looking forward to the challenge of facing Bristol City in the Carling Cup first round. Posh have been handed one of the toughest ties at this stage of the competition after being drawn against the Robins at Ashton Gate. However, Ferguson believes his side are capable of making life difficult for their Championship opponents. "It is going to be difficult and it is one that I wouldn't have picked but you have to get on with it, and on our day we can give anyone a game," Ferguson said.
