Bristol City have sealed the signing of Welsh international Gavin Williams from Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old former West Ham midfielder has agreed a two-year contract at Ashton Gate after passing his medical on Friday.
BBC Sport Online
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson believes the opportunity to sign Gavin Williams was "too good to miss" following the Welshman's move to Ashton Gate. Although the fee is officially undisclosed it is understood that Town have recouped the £300,000 they paid West Ham for the midfielder in 2006 and the deal could eventually rise to £400,000 depending on appearances. The move sees Williams link up once again with Johnson after the pair enjoyed success together during their time at Yeovil and the Robins boss believes he has bagged himself a bargain. "I think our supporters will see why I've brought him here pretty soon," said Johnson, who took City to the play-off final last season before losing out to Hull.
